How to Install and Configure a Hikvision IP Camera Kit | Complete NVR Setup Guide

by admin 11 Jul 2024 0 Comments

Diiiz explains in a simple way the different steps to configure your new Hikvision IP camera kit using Hikvision tools and applications.

Make sure you have your PC ready. Hikvision cameras require a computer for the initial installation and configuration.

The Hikvision NVR Recorder: An Essential Tool

Once you have chosen the right Hikvision NVR recorder from the wide selection on Diiiz, you will need to decide where to place it. Choosing the right location for your Hikvision NVR is crucial for both accessibility and security.

Key Factors to Consider

Your Hikvision NVR recorder should not be easily accessible in case of intrusion, yet it must remain easy to access for you or your certified installer. The recorded footage should be well protected but also easy to reach when needed.

We recommend using our anti-vandal metal box, known as a lockbox: anti-vandal lockbox for Hikvision NVR/DVR.

Cabling a Hikvision Camera Kit

Once you have chosen the right location for your NVR recorder, set up your system with a star-shaped wiring installation. Use one cable per camera for optimal performance.

At minimum, use UTP Cat5 cables, but Cat6 is highly recommended for better stability. Browse surveillance cables here.

Mounting Hikvision Cameras on the Wall

Once the wiring is planned, securely mount your Hikvision surveillance cameras on the wall. Proper mounting ensures better angles and image quality.

Preparing Connectors

Prepare your connectors carefully. If you are unfamiliar with the process, refer to this installation guide. Remember, you need one connector on the camera side and one on the NVR side. Always test the cable before connecting your cameras.

Connecting cameras and the NVR: Ensure that all cables are tested and detected. Connect each cable to the NVR and camera. Make sure your Hikvision NVR has a 230V power supply and is connected to your network.

Monitor Setup for Image Control

It’s time to connect your monitor to the NVR. Once everything is properly wired, you can power up your system. These initial steps can be done by yourself without technical assistance.

The next step is programming your system. Our team can assist you with this stage. Contact our experts using our form, and we will help you configure your Hikvision kit. Contact us here.
